Just how do you figure out where to set priorities when everything seems to be equally important?

You need to break down your to do tasks in sizeable chunks if you want to stay ahead of them and not run yourself in the ground in the process. There are two ways to go about it.

The first one is your daily list. In the morning sit down and pick five things that you absolutely must get done and put them on your priority list for today. Do these five things first before you do anything else and check them off as you complete them. Once you accomplished your five must-do’s you can ease up your pace for the rest of the day. What you accomplish on top of these five things is your gravy. This sounds easy but remember there are always interruptions, emails and something unexpected that needs your attention. Be diligent about your time and keep interruptions to a minimum until you are done with your five items. I don’t check email if I am on one my tasks and I don’t answer the phone either. Good time management is essential for you. Be selfish whom you give your time to and how you spend it.

This technique works equally well for your personal life. You do this by simply including your personal must do’s on your list. Things like picking up your kid, a doctor visit or doing groceries should be added to your priority list for each day if they are a must-do item for the day. Be realistic about how much you can do and don’t worry if you don’t get it right the first time. Time management takes practice. As a tip: don’t add more than three errands to your list for a single day otherwise it can get to be too much running around.

The second way is to follow the concept of ego-RHTYHM that teaches you how to figure out what your main focus in life is and it's duration. In the defining years, usually from 25-45 years old, it makes things much easier if you know what your life main focus is and to do that one thing best. You let the rest of your life happen. For example if you are a new mom, focus on being primarily a mom and not on your career or other things you have not accomplished yet. In my book “Women Who Want It All and Get It, Too” I outline specifically how you can figure out where you are and which rhythm you are in currently. This way you will no longer look at your future as this big mountain to climb but a journey that is broken down in bite size increments which makes everything a lot more manageable.

A healthy balance is possible when you know what the most important aspect of your current rhythm (where you are today) is and you focus on that and stop worrying about everything else. This takes a little practice and discipline. Your life will shift again and something else will take priority. Then you focus on that and than the next one until you have enough experience under your belt and gotten enough of “all” to have learned that many things can co-exist at the same time. It can and will happen but it takes practice and time to get to the point where you have mastered each subject satisfactory and graduate to having it all at once.

In the meantime work with your daily priorities as best as you can. Remember to use KARL. You are doing great!

Let me know how it goes.
Beateego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-62063142501747277952009-02-02T11:28:00.000-08:002009-02-02T11:56:39.178-08:00Octuplets: RevisitedIn a way I feel as if I put my foot in my mouth when I posted my other blog perhaps a little too early. As the facts came in the story changed quite a bit, didn’t it?

While I still believe that the point I was making in my previous blog is still the right one, my example was not so well chosen.

Recap: My point was that we as a society believe bad news sell so we find bad news in everything - even in good news. The example I had picked was the (assumed) couple that went through infertility treatments and ended up with eight babies. I further assumed that the media manipulated a miracle into something negative and the message shifted from wow to what the heck was she thinking?

What can I, as a single mom to one daughter say to a single mother of six (who are all conceived via treatment) who undergoes more fertility treatments? Have you lost your mind, don’t you know how hard it is? Should I be happy for her that she gets what she wants or feel bad as I think this is a path with major consequences for her?

Here is to a single mom of 14! I try to envision how you can enlist your two-year old twins to help you with anything or your seven year old to put the babies to bed? How can you hold a job with 14 kids? What car has space for 14? The costs of diapers, food must be astronomical. Can you even take care of that many kids by yourself? The mom lives with her parents who are taking care of the kids while she is in the hospital. Is it fair to make your parents, who already have financial problems, a part of this?

No matter how I look at it I end up with one word - irresponsible. Then I thought, wait, this is about women who want it all. Isn't this an example of someone who wanted this and got it? Is that not a great thing for her?

Bottom-line: We can't go into a discussion on whether or not single women should be able to get fertility treatments or not. We can't get into discussions on whether or not it is good to selectively terminate some of the fetuses based on Darwin's survival of the fittest. As a free country we have to accept the decisions others make even when they appear to us as irresponsible.

What does it mean for you and your desire to get what you want?

You can only begin with yourself. Remind yourself to put only on your list what you can handle in real life. Challenge yourself but within realistic realms. Be as specific as possible. Perhaps instead of saying I want kids, say I want one or two! While I do recommend dreaming big (it is the same amount of effort) make sure you will be in the driver seat when your wants turn into your reality.

Have a fabulous week.
Beateego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-65392947340684308482009-01-28T17:50:00.000-08:002009-01-28T21:57:31.873-08:00Good News and Bad NewsA few days ago a woman in Los Angeles gave birth to eight babies. They were born nine weeks early but everything went without a hitch. The pictures on TV and in the newspaper feature an ecstatic team of doctors, beaming of joy that the birth went so well. The team had expected seven but oops, an eight one snuck in. What a great chuckle for the reader. I guess eight is as good as seven, maybe even better. Overall this is great message of joy and a miracle. The babies are doing well, almost all breathe on their own. The mom is happy and beginning to breastfeed. On top of it this is a positive story about an HMO, something we all would like to hear for once.

Then today the message shifts. On CNN and other media outlets we suddenly read reports of why a pregnancy with that many babies is unnecessarily dangerous. How one fertility doctor believes that the couple chooses simple fertility injections (as they are cheaper) versus an in vitro (which is more expensive). It sounds as he implies that the couple made some bad decisions. Some other doctor thinks there should have been a reduction of fetuses to reduce the risk for the mother and the stronger babies. Yet another story said that problems of premature babies would not surface until later. When you are done reading a great feel good moment turns into thoughts of doubt and judgment.

My blood began to boil. What in the world is wrong with this picture?

The world is in the midst of trying times and a lot of what goes on around you is very tough stuff. It is hard to feel good when there is so much despair around you. Most of my readers are familiar with spiritual concepts and most likely you avoid as much as you can the overload of negativity around you.

Having eight seemingly healthy babies is fabulous. It is impossible to not be in awe of this family who clearly wanted to conceive and accepted all that came with it. And they made it! This should be celebrated just as we celebrated the miracle of the Hudson. It is not true that only bad news sell. Remember when "Sully" landed his plane in the Hudson just a few weeks ago. We absorbed the good news and rehashed them over and over again. Why? We need stories of hope so we can hold onto our faith and believes that we will get through this time of turmoil and that everything will turn out OK. It is imperative that we find things that go right and know a person by name that has done something good.

For the woman and the man who wants it all this is a call to action. We can and will stay positive and focused on the good stuff. How can you contribute? When you hear a story that makes you feel good or gives you hope - tell your friends. Twitter links to articles that give you that warm fussy feeling or post them on your Facebook account. Call your friends. Resist the temptation to start your conversation with how many people have lost their jobs and homes and instead be a messenger of good news. Little by little we can shift our consciousness beginning with our immediate surroundings. And that sounds already pretty good to me.

I send you my very best wishes and hope this finds you exceptionally well.
Beate

I invite you to post your good news on this blog, my Facebook or tweet me.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-88473561821216737792009-01-17T13:57:00.001-08:002009-01-17T14:32:25.544-08:00Help! I am struggling.Help! I am struggling. This was a Facebook entry I received today from a fabulous, smart self employed woman in Florida. She asked about ideas, tips or techniques that could be recommended. Anything, ANYTHING that I can share that might help her to get over the current bump. A series of tough blows brought her to her knees.

When faced with adversity especially in tough economic times (and I remind you that Mercury is going retrograde until February 2nd) we ask - why me, why now, when is it going to be over? Our external circumstances are discouraging. The economy, depression vs recession, plummeting portfolios, savings and declining home values leave us feeling down and heavy. On top of it, the planets are going nuts as communication for the next few weeks will be triple as difficult. Mercury rules all personal and electronic communication.

For the Woman Who Wants It All it can be very discouraging when you do all the right things and "stuff" keeps on getting in the way. So what is the right action, thought, or method to use when you feel life is giving you too much to handle and you cannot take it anymore?

Remember you have a trusted "man" on your side. KARL (know, accept, relax, live. Apply the actions of KARL whenever you hit a snag.

Know that you are eye-to-eye with a pretty big bump on your road. You must get through this and you will - somehow. Challenges are a part of life, you've gone through stuff before.

Accept that today is a tough day and that you are struggling with your situation. Don't fight it, allow and accept it. Set yourself a time limit and throw a great pity-party for yourself.

Relax - you might as well. When you time limit is up, remind yourself that you will conquer this one, too. Take a breath and focus on positive thinking. "I Will Get Better."

Live a little. Give yourself a reward for being brave and courageous. Do a favorite activity such as rent a funny movie, go for a walk, grab a coffee, paint, read, have a drink or cook for a friend.

And even when all of this goes on we are able to witness a miracle. The miracle on the Hudson when a plane lands on an icy river and within five minutes everyone is rescued.

Remind yourself, even when the going gets really tough - there is always a light that shines brightly that gives us hope. You will be better - soon.

Stay the course.
Beateego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-43373728020605071342009-01-13T12:18:00.001-08:002009-01-13T13:28:02.824-08:00And a Happy New YearDear Reader,

First of all, let me wish you a wonderful and successful 2009. We continue to see change all around - hence do expect that your life will probably see elements of change, too. Change is great once we have completed it but a tough nut to swallow while you are in the middle of it. Regardless of how worried you might be and how negative things appear around you, stay firm in your believe that at the end of this you will be OK.

Even for the most positive person, it is hard to ignore the drama around us. A shooting over Christmas, a Ponzi scheme from an investment firm that serviced many charities and now someone who stages his own death to avoid facing the mess he is in. But then I came across Larry Flynt asking congress to bail out the porn industry. In internet terms I was ROTFL (rolling on the floor laughing). Today the news say that the banks want more money and who knows who else is going to ask for a bailout next? We must make an effort, like Larry to see the humor in the drama and believe it will all get better soon.

As a result I thought I'd come up with a few bailout ideas for Women Who Want It All. The below listed thoughts will bail you out from your own negative thinking. Your bailout comes from one person alone - YOU. Here are your thoughts for 2009:

Change begins with you alone. Do what you can today.

Focus on what you can check off your list today not everything you still haven't done.

Any progress regardless how small it may be - is still progress.

Celebrate your victories, irrespective of how big or small. Depending on your budget give yourself a free reward such as going for a long walk, cut out an hour early or stop for your favorite ice cream or if your budget permits, a new outfit.

Make a conscious attempt right now to think about what you are grateful for and say 'thank you' for what you have.

Remember to enjoy this moment which is what John Travolta says we must do as we never know - it could be the last one like this.

Believe that things will get better every day until you have what you want.

Enjoy your week, your families, yourself and your work. Life is good in essence.

Beate

Know that I appreciate you very much. I thank my friends from twitter, Facebook and this blog for your support.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-83420401831880851712008-12-27T14:33:00.000-08:002008-12-27T15:27:29.505-08:00Finishing 2008It is hard to believe that we almost finished the year 2008 already. When I began in February to take time off I was worried how I could fill my days. That ended up being no problem at all! My days still run away from me now as they did when I worked full time in an office. Writing my book "Women Who Want It All and Get It, Too," has taken over much of my day every day and I have become a full time writer and speaker already. I accept it is in my nature to build new things and to create. No idle time for me.

A while ago I had promised to give some feedback on what the test reader group has to say about the book. The first draft was sent to a group of 50 people. The intention was put forward to test the concept of ego-RHYTHM and the method of KARL.

45 women, 5 men ranging from ages 25 to 64 were in the test group. The response from the group of 21-30 and 31-40 is essentially identical. The group of 41-50 and the group of 51 and above also have comparable feedback. Men understand the concept of ego-RHYTHM and the method of KARL but have a tough time with the emotional component (surprise!).

Now in the second revision of the book I am adding more examples from other women and additional exercises. Feedback has shown that while my personal viewpoint of the book is well received ultimately it was too focused on me. By adding examples and tips of women who already use some of the concepts that I write about such as want-it-all lists and vision boards or "I" language I am able to broaden the appeal to more readers. The group of women whom I interviewed includes PH D's and life coaches who have very smart things to say.

The reader who will gain the most benefit from the book is between 25-40 (up to 45) depending on personal development. These years I refer to as the defining years. This group's feedback is phenomenal on the concept and the method. Already I have received word from one woman in Chicago who had put on her want-it-all list that she wanted to be a Marketing Manager. I am proud to report that within four weeks after making the list she now holds this position! Talk about concepts that really work! Other feedback include:

“I think the concept is amazing in its simplicity and am going to be using it while I’m setting goals and making plans for the New Year.”

“This book helped me to define where I’m at in my life and where I want to be. The exercises really helped me to pinpoint the areas I need to work on and gave me concrete strategies to work with. It’s the most hands-on self-help book I’ve read in ages!”

“There is not doubt a rhythm to life and being able to look back and take inventory and realize that this too shall pass is very liberating and extremely informative.”

“Beate really gets one to soul search and dig deep in one’s wants and goals with “Women Who Want It All and Get It, Too.” Totally real, understandable content makes a person think and analyze their life - past, present and future. I am not normally a book reader because most bore me or just ramble on and on, but this book was enjoyable, enlightening. I will be waiting for it to be in print available for purchase! Excellent, must have resource.”

“After doing the ego-RHYTHM exercises, I gained a tremendous sense of satisfaction and appreciation for where I am in my life: and I feel confident that I will have it all!”

“First, let me say that the concept of ego-RHYTHM is unique and enlightening. Understanding the length of one's natural ego-RHYTHM and knowing which ego-RHYTHM one is in is truly liberating. It allows one to accept and to embrace where one is in one's life in order to move on and not get stuck or discouraged.

Needless to say that I am thrilled to get such great feedback. In addition I am adding a chapter "Mid Life and After." Especially the age group of 45 and above felt that the ego-RHYTHM's are not as prominent in later life, which I agree with. There comes a time where the stress levels out and we do achieve balance. As we move through our defining years and accomplish much of what we want we are able to enjoy more aspects of our lives at once.

Overall the respondents suggested to structure the book in a clearer format and to organize my thoughts better. I had a feeling that this would come up. My brain always goes sixty miles an hour and I have to spend some time in working out some of my thoughts in greater detail to make it easier to understand. I always had told my staff that "I don't know what you don't know, so you have to tell me." Now I have been told and can make changes accordingly. I am so very grateful for the fabulous and opinionated women who have agreed to read and review the book. They were asked to be honest and they were. Everyone pointed out what I missed and what I got right.

More than ever I am convinced that the book will be a huge success. The concept and the use of the method KARL will help women to take the stress out of today's struggles. It already does for the ones who read it.

Got to go and write some more.

I hope you have had a great week with your families and friends. Enjoy the times together and remember to get your free audio at www.beatechelette.com

Happy New Year
Beateego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-80597891250358038032008-11-24T09:31:00.000-08:002008-11-24T10:17:39.179-08:00Genuine or Not?A few posts ago I was responding to an anonymous blogger (Greed and Having-It-All). I assumed it was a "he" but learned it is a "she". One of my readers Elaine posted a response to the blog and anonymous in Las Vegas responded to it.

Reading the response I am told that my writing does not come across as genuine. In addition that the use of the terms "we" as in "we, the women I write and speak for", is to self centered and should probably be more a "I."

Alright then, fair enough. When you write a book is there a different way to write other than the one I see it? It's not a documentary or a scientific paper - I write about my pragmatic way to see what is, what has been and how the heck I (and you) get from there to getting what you want. Am I the worlds greatest writer? Probably not and I am not expecting a Pulitzer Price for it. But, there is a thought...

If I would have listened to everyone who has an objection to what I think or do and that includes my own mother - I would not have become the American Dream. In fact, I would have never left Germany. I am here because I rolled up my sleeves and despite everyone else being more educated, smarter, richer, better, faster and further ahead, I did it anyway. What I learned is that I am now smarter, richer, better and faster and further ahead and I continue to educate myself. That is my story and that is the story that resonates. It is a story of hope and determination. Best of all it has a happy ending and it inspires others. The more women/people who know someone like me - the better. How many people do you know who actually made it big? Call it corny, stubborn, opinionated, crazy or plain egocentric - you could have a point here, I am not disagreeing. But it is genuine if for no other reason than it is in fact a true story (and its a really good one, too.) I only write about what I know and what works for me. If it worked for me maybe it can work for others as well?

It doesn't stop here though. I truly believe that by sharing what I have learned from the school of hard knocks with other women that I can help them to do their own trailblazing. Selfish or selfless? Does it matter? Results are what matters.

Talking about results. I am an Entrepreneur before I am anything else. If I know about one thing it is to design a product/idea, make it work, brand it and sell it. My book is a product and it will only be a great one if it feels a need. There is no scientific study on KARL or ego-RHYTHM (yet). But the test group of fifty that has read the draft now and responded to both, the method and the concept seem to.... Too bad I can't tell you yet, I have to wait until all fifty are back to share the data about what is said. Again, I need to stay neutral until the responses are back to give everyone a chance to voice their opinion.

Anonymous in Las Vegas, be assured that while I thought it up, designed it, wrote it, believe in it and know it works, that there is much input that goes into the book to make it great. The bestselling book "Women Who Want It All and Get It, Too," will be a bestseller for only one reason - it hits a nerve and it is timely.

It is not for everyone though. I am not trying to be everything to everyone. When I speak I open by saying that the listeners will only remember from the keynote that I am about to give what applies to them - forget the rest. This is no different. I am not preaching, it's not gospel, it is what I know works. Thus far I have heard from 25% of the test group that are returning their feedback to me and I can't stop smiling.

While I can't share too much yet as I want to remain neutral and not influence anyone's opinion (yet) of my book "Women Who Want It All and Get It, Too" I can say I am pleased.

The concept of ego-RHYTHM is in the easiest format described as everything comes in due time. Being happy or a mom, having bad luck or putting emphasis on family and health are just some of the rhythms that are outlined in the book. Knowing that what you are going through at this very moment (today) might just be a string of bad luck - gives you permission to stop beating yourself up for not being in a better position. You also learn as you go through the exercises and write up your want-it-all list how to focus on the good stuff ahead of you. Which is what we must remind ourselves of especially in times like these. The world will not panic forever, this too, shall pass.

The book gets good feedback from some of the male readers in the test group as well. When my boyfriend and I flew to Canada he was reviewing the draft. In his company he is part of the executive senior management and used to red-line documents and proof proposals. This was truly the first time since I 'retired' from my day-to-day job that he would see or read or review something that I have done. We are in the plane, I pretend to read something else but couldn't help to notice some eye-rolling, loud turning of pages, a sigh here and there and I am thinking to myself that he thinks it's terrible. I try to be invisible and sink into my seat more and more. Another half hour later he looks at me, takes my script, gives me a serious look and proceeds to tell me that I didn't explain something well enough. As I listen to his argumentation I started to laugh and said: "Wait a minute, you just learned the concept of ego-RHYTHM over the last hour and you are already explaining to ME why I did not explain my own concept in my own draft well enough." I took a breath and felt very reassured that I am onto something big.

As a reminder my concept of ego-RHYTHM and the method of KARL are universal and apply to men and women alike. It is only the book that I am writing that is geared specifically to women. The reason is obvious - I am a specialist on wanting it all, because I refused to believe that there was something I could not do or achieve.

Who knows, maybe there is a series: Men Who Want It All, Teens Who Want It All...ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-23760768105248457832008-11-04T11:20:00.000-08:002008-11-04T11:22:27.757-08:00Posted new FREE AudioJust posted a new MP3 on my website. But then again who does these days? Spoken to someone from the financial world lately? I bet you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who has witnessed such a spectacle throughout his or her financial career. Am I not a financial specialist but I am an investor and I do participate in this economy and my Blog represents my opinion.

The responder 'anonymous' is right. We got into this mess inch by inch over a prolonged period of time. We know that. I doubt that by now there is anyone who doesn’t understand what the steps were that got us there. What I referred to was the panic and hysteria that we have seen in the last two months. For crying out loud, people are buying a safe and putting their cash under their mattresses. The banks stopped lending to each other and are hording cash. Credit limits on credit cards are slashed and it has become a difficult thing to get a loan period. It looks like a panic and acts like a panic – it probably is a panic. Remember oil – that went through the roof up to $147 per barrel in June and today it is $62.73. Before that the housing market went nuts and before that the .com boom, we keep doing the same thing.

The question that mattered to me most in 'anonymous' posts is this: How much does my topic of wanting and getting it all contributes to the overall 'greed?' Fabulous question and I am delighted to answer that.

You have to read the upcoming bestselling book to see how it plays out in detail. But greed and having it all are two different things.

In my book that is titled "Women Who Want It All and Get It, Too" I speak to women. I am guessing 'anonymous' is a man. Men don't think about having it all, it comes embedded in their genetic make-up. My book addresses the dilemma that women face, as we want to have (all) love, family, careers and money, too.

Our role models, our mothers did not live the have-it-all model. We were left to fend for ourselves. What we are looking at today is the best-case scenario of what we have figured out so far. Perhaps the model is slightly flawed, as we are still struggling to say the least. I state that the evolution for women is therefore greater then the evolution of men as by the example of the last 50 years. Women have conquered more ground and changed more during this time period then men. Wanting and having it all are very personal, individualized criteria's and each of us has to define what that means for ourself. Most everyone I know, including myself earn his or her own money. Most are happy to make ends meet and have a little left over. We participate in what 'anonymous' calls greed through our 401K's and the mutual funds of our children but that is probably not so clear to us. We are in a free economy and it will regulate itself, it always has. Do we and will we learn from it is the more important question. Sh@* happens, what comes after it is what counts.

Having it all and getting it too is a non-judgmental idea. You have the right to define it for yourself. My having it all includes other then the cash to live the life I want to live also happiness and family and health.

Here is an exert from the chapter of Creating Your Want-It-All list:

Be careful what you ask for ... because you might get it. Make sure you remain positive and ask for things that truly are for your best and the greater good for everyone. Do not ask for things like revenge or, even worse, wish an accident or death upon anyone. If you put this kind of effort in creating your future, then you might as well ask for the right things so you end up happy. Only good things come from good things. When you ask for money, make sure you include fulfillment and happiness as well to round it up. Only wish for things that will help you to become the person you want to be.

If money is all you love, then that’s what you’ll receive! Princess Leia Organa to Han Solo, “Star Wars: A New Hope”

Some of my ideas, no matter how absurd they may sound (as in can we not just rent out the oversupply of the current housing market?) may not be based on anything other then a pragmatic look at a 'why not'? Could there be a company that could manage something like that and could that make sense to some extend – you answer that.

In my book I write that if no new ideas would be born then we would have never seen progress. All progress and all change always starts with one thing - the idea of one person.

And ‘anonymous’ I invite you to join my test reader group to evaluate the concept of ego-RHYTHM and the method of KARL. I need critical voices that will take it apart and really test it. And thank you for your post.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-2191691586396857002008-10-14T08:14:00.000-07:002008-10-14T08:15:43.744-07:00Inspire Me Today - published todayhttp://www.inspiremetoday.com

The interview is out, take a look.
Beateego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-51831001733319639452008-10-13T13:16:00.000-07:002008-10-13T13:23:00.210-07:00https://www.inspiremetoday.com
October 14th

My interview as luminary will be published on www.inspiremetoday.com on Oct 14th.

Please read Gail's wonderful story about how she came about to launch her service here:
http://www.inspiremetoday.com/gail/

I hope to see you there.
Beate
ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-32846193608034203422008-10-09T15:41:00.000-07:002008-10-09T16:07:37.474-07:00and helloI look around in wonder. We are all grown ups and yet we have managed in only one month to run this country into depression. We keep this attitude up we will loose in much larger ways then anyone can even imagine today. It is all connected.

Repeat after me: I am a person who wants it all and my time is now. I will not be affected by the negativity nor will I fuel the panic with my thoughts and actions.

Fine, we knew that someone who makes $50,000 a year should not be in a $500,000 home. It had to come down crashing eventually. Just like now back THEN everyone ran to buy a house and money practically grew on trees. Got to take advantage of the low mortgage rates. Then reality sank in and interest rates reset and tada there are a lot of empty houses all over the place. Why don't we rent the darn things as now rents are going through the roof! Just a practical thought.

Short selling is another one of those great ideas. Let me make profit speculating on someone’s downfall! From a spiritual perspective you might as well buy your ticket to go to hell. What are we thinking? We need to offset losses, yes I get that, but to bet on the system crashing is like taking ten loaded guns to bed and hoping you will wake up alive. Remind me again why we are allowing that? That's right, you don't even have to buy the stock and own it, you can only 'pretend' you have it and still make the money. Slap left; slap right, bad, bad, bad.

Oil is great, right. So let us ALL buy Oil. Oh geez it gets more expensive. Oh no, $4 a gallon, what should we do after we drove the price through the roof because we wanted to bet money that we don't have on that? Then someone says, let's overprice a Hybrid so it will take you four years to offset the extra green premium of $5000 to break even. (Well, let me tell you it'll be a Mercedes for me while you may all cramp into that ugly car. By the time my lease is up we will be even and I will have had more fun driving.) But wait, now the Oil is going down. Let us bet that the demand will shrink because people need to save money and they will stay home. Look, the prices are going down more and more. Exxon is not making a record profit. Someone give me a tissue to wipe my tear.

Within one month, we have stopped our lives midair. We are mesmerized by the bad messages and the media and the government should be put over my knee for a big spanking. What are you thinking? We KNOW people are worried and we know people are not buying anything. Do you really have to keep talking about it and contemplate that the rest of the world can fall into a man made crisis as well?
Remember back in the days when they handed out motion sickness bags in planes? One person threw up and then everyone did. Know where I am going with this? You are right they are all throwing up worldwide. Thank God I see some humor in this.
Let me sum it up. You decide if you are part of the contraction or part of the solution. You keep worrying, that is what you get back. Focus on what you can do. Go out and BUY something today, keep it going. We must change the energy around us, which is admittedly a little hard when Mercury is in retrograde. Only one more week and the gloom will lift, the gloom will lift, the gloom will lift….ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-68933867913224089992008-10-03T13:47:00.000-07:002008-10-03T14:20:37.165-07:00SarahSo here it goes. I am the same age as SHE. I know probably a little less about politics but I will say that what Palin did is exactly the strategy I would have taken.

When you don't really know the topics inside out but you learn fast then you use that as your strength and are disarmingly honest about it. It served me well as a woman and Sarah made that point loud and clear. She is what she is, she stepped up to the plate and she made a pretty compelling argument about herself. The no nonsense smart Mommy from Alaska with her share of problems, a strong set of beliefs and a burning desire to make a difference. In addition she got the once in a lifetime opportunity to demonstrate that. Then she takes her sleeping baby and rubs the back of the little munchkin like only Mom's can rocking back and forth and scored big by that alone.

Remember there are a lot of Republican Mom's and die hard Hillary fans like me. The Obama-Biden campaign isn't paying much attention to us, unfortunately.

From the woman who wants it all perspective I must respectfully bow to Sarah Palin and the Republican campaign. She looked great and feminine, she flirted with America and was likable. I liked her. Job well done and women that have not had much to say in household politics in middle America will gladly go and vote for her as she gives them a voice. Very clever and McCain demonstrates a new strategy which is much different then the good-old-boys Texas stuff. And I am not a Republican.

On the other side I wished that Joe would not do that grandfatherly thing, that is a little OLD. But, he did not correct her or attack her personally and I liked that, too. He knows way more then she does and he comes across as well rounded, calm (which I hear he is not) and he understands the workings of politics. Do I believe he will have a better idea what can and cannot be done - you bet.

Biden does not appeal to Hillary fans. Only to those with a father complex (sorry) will want to lean on his shoulder. I see leather chairs and dark paneling and a fire place. Honestly, Obama does not appeal to me that much either, perhaps by my bias opinion and the fact alone that he is a mulatto, just like my daughter and with what I think an identity problem. He has a white mother and black father. How he identifies himself primarily as black and not overall as "brown" (like my daughter when she was little) or "multi-ethnic" is a mystery to me and it feels dishonest. I just don't trust him, period. Smug smile and all those great lines of all the things he want to change in four years – sure... Pick five that I know you can do and stop the change the world overnight thing, I don’t buy it, it’s so, so teenager like.

Who is the better choice? That depends entirely on the next two debates. We are all clear that we cannot take more of the same. America's International appeal and our economy has all but been thrust in the toilet by Bush. He did help me personally though (I might be the only one you can find), so I will be nice enough to say it was probably the best he knew how to do.

McCain or Obama? Obama most definitely runs a sexier campaign and acts like he is the winner already. Talk about manifesting your destiny.

We will all need to ponder over this some more and hope that in the next few weeks the issues will become clearer defined so we can make a choice that is best for this country that I happen to really like a lot. But they are not making it easy on me to figure out what the right thing is.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-60944472132270514852008-09-30T11:20:00.001-07:002008-09-30T11:36:07.892-07:00Inspire Me TodayWhat a fantastic morning I had. I just finished an interview with Gail Lynne Goodwin from www.inspiremetoday.com. It will be posted shortly and I'll twitter when it is out. Don't forget to follow me on http://twitter.com/egorhythm for updates.

Gail is an extraordinary luminary and told me the most wonderful story. It is about how she started her wonderful inspirational website. She was in Iraq visiting American troops and a young soldier asked her to give her a hug. When she hugged him he said he had not gotten a hug in nine months and that she smelled like home. That already gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. The realities of everyday war are a tough order for those who have to live through it.

The soldier told her further that his job was to sit in a ditch for thirty days at a time without speaking to anyone to secure a particular position. What got him through the endless and lonely days was his iPod. He downloads inspirational messages and podcasts and listens to them. Immediately after that experience, her defining moment she set up her website and grants all military personnel free access.

Our session that was all about 'not giving up'. To know that it may help an American in this war to get through a difficult day made me proud and very happy. That is a great birthday present for me. (I am turning 39 -again today). Kudos to Gail for such a special experience.

Gail and I went through the steps of K.A.R.L. and how to apply it when the going gets a little tough. We talk in the upcoming audio about what you can do on a day to day basis to map out to the road from here to there.

Until then.
Beateego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-80798366104166071112008-09-23T08:52:00.000-07:002008-09-23T09:03:38.709-07:00Audio Interview UpLast week the fantastic Honorée Corpron interviewed me. You can find the interview as an MP4 file on my website or simply click here: http://tinyurl.com/3zdfae

Honorée is an enthusiastic business owner based in Las Vegas and an experienced marketing expert. She is a speaker and author as well. Listen to the podcast to find out about her upcoming book about "The Successful Single Mom". In our interview we talk about overcoming some of the hurdles that stand in your way of believing that you deserve to have everything. As a woman who wants it all, Honorée asks me what a woman can do today and where she should begin. The interview covers how to apply K.A.R.L. and will shed some light on how I leaped from wanting it all to getting it all.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-88362645415678888802008-09-11T08:37:00.001-07:002008-09-11T08:38:27.543-07:00Websites are liveLast night it happened. Lipstick?I am mad. I am very upset about Mr. Obama, a male chauvinist who deems it necessary to bash a woman with a despicable low-blow. I am not a Republican but I am loosing my democratic tendencies if this is not going to stop.

Stay with the issues Mr. Obama. You already blew it for me when you had your thing with Hillary. You will not win any female voters unless you clean up your act. And a lipstick should not be one of them. While I thought Mrs. Palin’s speech was so-so that part was quite good.

Time to take a breath now. One of my talks is about women being catty and why we have to stop doing that. The reason is simple. We must stand up for each other. We are powerful, opinionated and may I say beautifully perfect women and unless we don’t say that this type of commenting is not tolerated we will continue to allow others to put us down.

In essence if you cannot say it to someone's face, don't say it. If you think you shouldn't say it, you are probably right. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Obama's people called and wanted to tell me about the truth of so-and-so. I told the poor guy that I was not interested in what others said or did as I can check that myself but rather want to hear what Mr. Obama has to say. Please do not call me until there is a message.

What does it mean for women who want it all? Be respectful even if you do not agree with the message. No low blows and no Schadenfreude when someone gets hurt. Be outraged if one of us who is paving the way for our daughters gets run over by too much ambition.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-89856174234799863792008-09-02T09:37:00.000-07:002008-09-02T09:52:11.694-07:00Women and PoliticsGeez, what a mess. She is hot, successful and has a good looking husband whom she's been married to for 20 years. She has five kids and some interesting hobbies. She is clearly a woman who wants it all and it she is going for it 100%.

When you are against abortion does that mean you are against birth control, too? If Mom just had a baby 5 months ago (the exact time her daughter got pregnant) wouldn't you think someone had talked to the girls about sex and birth control?

Do I believe that a 17 year old should get married? Absolutely not. Is it the best they can come up with for damage control? Yes it probably is. We have to keep the conservatives happy.

Irrespective of what I believe in, my focus is on the woman. What a gutsy move and what a bold statement. I have to give it to McCain. Now the entire world will take her life apart and ask every crush she has ever had in high school. Her hair color, appearance and every speech she has ever made will be scrutinized. Every decision she has ever made, every piece of paper she signed, every vote she has given on any subject is under the microscope. On CNN the female reporter grilled McCain's campaign manager about the relevant experience if the 72 year old candidate McCain bites the bullet. Brilliant question that Brian (the man in my life) posed already last Friday. Would the world be ready for a 44 year old woman to run this country?

From our perspective as women (and I will be 44 this month) I am having a field day with this. It will give us a very clear indication on just how far we have come yet or not. Obama is 47, hardly a big age difference. His experience is dismal as well. Now it is a first hand, front row seat to see the difference men and women are viewed by the press, the public eye and finally, ourselves.

Buckle up, this will be fun.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-24642039597955737932008-08-26T14:59:00.000-07:002008-08-26T15:28:08.305-07:00HUB weekendThis last weekend I was invited by my former colleague Hugh after he read my blog to check out HUB. www.hubhub.org

It is a fairly new organization dedicated to personal empowerment and humanitarian assistance where it is needed. While they are new they have attracted a caliber of spiritual leaders that blew my mind away. The list reads like the who is who in motivational leadership. I was able to enjoy talks by Brendon Burchard, the unstoppable Cynthia Kersey and learned about The Passion Test from Chris Attwood. The person who impressed me most was the visionary behind all of it, Charlie Gay. I can't even imagine who can think up such a concept and attract that many powerful do'ers. Needless to say that I joined the group. For $99 a month I can participate and feed 3 people. A word of caution for those who are weary of what is out there. HUB is a networking idea. If someone joins they'll join underneath you. Then you get a commission. What I like is that HUB is for profit. My father taught me the more money you make and the more successful you are the more impact you make. The network pyramid thing is definitely not for everyone. My approach is pragmatic as always. There is more good about it then negative. The people attending seemed to be taking a lot away for their personal journeys. I took away enough to feel they deserve my input. On top of it all it can never hurt to be so close to powerful leadership.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8172328125330744019.post-11188723498924075742008-07-23T17:54:00.000-07:002008-07-23T18:01:04.594-07:00Happiness Soldiers“Well-behaved women rarely make history.”
Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

We are the first generation of women happiness soldiers. We march in the front row and claim what is rightfully ours and we want to be content in the process. We demand equality in body, mind and spirit. And think about how much we have already accomplished! What great inspiring women can we see marching ahead of us? Oprah who showed us that all you need is compassion and a first name to built an empire. Hillary Clinton who refuses anyone to tell her what do to even if it is the entire Democratic party. I love that, if I ever get to meet her, I have a feeling we will get along just fine. What about Madeleine Albright, Barbara Boxer and German Chancellor Alexandra Merkel? There so many strong women who have paved the way for us. Some do it quietly in our communities and some more openly. I don’t care, I have not cared what others think of me for a while and I don’t want you to care either. I am starting to feel the urge to go back out there and do something. The time off is great and I needed it for my mental and physical health. God bless all stay at home moms. It just is not for me, I like playing with the boys way too much. Motherhood is great, don't get me wrong but there just is nothing that comes close to the satisfaction when you can see what you do. Appreciation in hard cash is definitely important. Off to a quick run and then back to writing.ego-RHYTHMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14156874413037815519noreply@blogger.com0
