Inspire Me Today

What a fantastic morning I had. I just finished an interview with Gail Lynne Goodwin from www.inspiremetoday.com. It will be posted shortly and I'll twitter when it is out. Don't forget to follow me on http://twitter.com/egorhythm for updates.

Gail is an extraordinary luminary and told me the most wonderful story. It is about how she started her wonderful inspirational website. She was in Iraq visiting American troops and a young soldier asked her to give her a hug. When she hugged him he said he had not gotten a hug in nine months and that she smelled like home. That already gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. The realities of everyday war are a tough order for those who have to live through it.

The soldier told her further that his job was to sit in a ditch for thirty days at a time without speaking to anyone to secure a particular position. What got him through the endless and lonely days was his iPod. He downloads inspirational messages and podcasts and listens to them. Immediately after that experience, her defining moment she set up her website and grants all military personnel free access.

Our session that was all about 'not giving up'. To know that it may help an American in this war to get through a difficult day made me proud and very happy. That is a great birthday present for me. (I am turning 39 -again today). Kudos to Gail for such a special experience.

Gail and I went through the steps of K.A.R.L. and how to apply it when the going gets a little tough. We talk in the upcoming audio about what you can do on a day to day basis to map out to the road from here to there.

Until then.

Audio Interview Up

Last week the fantastic Honorée Corpron interviewed me. You can find the interview as an MP4 file on my website or simply click here: http://tinyurl.com/3zdfae

Honorée is an enthusiastic business owner based in Las Vegas and an experienced marketing expert. She is a speaker and author as well. Listen to the podcast to find out about her upcoming book about "The Successful Single Mom". In our interview we talk about overcoming some of the hurdles that stand in your way of believing that you deserve to have everything. As a woman who wants it all, Honorée asks me what a woman can do today and where she should begin. The interview covers how to apply K.A.R.L. and will shed some light on how I leaped from wanting it all to getting it all.

Pig? Lipstick?

I am mad. I am very upset about Mr. Obama, a male chauvinist who deems it necessary to bash a woman with a despicable low-blow. I am not a Republican but I am loosing my democratic tendencies if this is not going to stop.

Stay with the issues Mr. Obama. You already blew it for me when you had your thing with Hillary. You will not win any female voters unless you clean up your act. And a lipstick should not be one of them. While I thought Mrs. Palin’s speech was so-so that part was quite good.

Time to take a breath now. One of my talks is about women being catty and why we have to stop doing that. The reason is simple. We must stand up for each other. We are powerful, opinionated and may I say beautifully perfect women and unless we don’t say that this type of commenting is not tolerated we will continue to allow others to put us down.

In essence if you cannot say it to someone's face, don't say it. If you think you shouldn't say it, you are probably right. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Obama's people called and wanted to tell me about the truth of so-and-so. I told the poor guy that I was not interested in what others said or did as I can check that myself but rather want to hear what Mr. Obama has to say. Please do not call me until there is a message.

What does it mean for women who want it all? Be respectful even if you do not agree with the message. No low blows and no Schadenfreude when someone gets hurt. Be outraged if one of us who is paving the way for our daughters gets run over by too much ambition.

Women and Politics

Geez, what a mess. She is hot, successful and has a good looking husband whom she's been married to for 20 years. She has five kids and some interesting hobbies. She is clearly a woman who wants it all and it she is going for it 100%.

When you are against abortion does that mean you are against birth control, too? If Mom just had a baby 5 months ago (the exact time her daughter got pregnant) wouldn't you think someone had talked to the girls about sex and birth control?

Do I believe that a 17 year old should get married? Absolutely not. Is it the best they can come up with for damage control? Yes it probably is. We have to keep the conservatives happy.

Irrespective of what I believe in, my focus is on the woman. What a gutsy move and what a bold statement. I have to give it to McCain. Now the entire world will take her life apart and ask every crush she has ever had in high school. Her hair color, appearance and every speech she has ever made will be scrutinized. Every decision she has ever made, every piece of paper she signed, every vote she has given on any subject is under the microscope. On CNN the female reporter grilled McCain's campaign manager about the relevant experience if the 72 year old candidate McCain bites the bullet. Brilliant question that Brian (the man in my life) posed already last Friday. Would the world be ready for a 44 year old woman to run this country?

From our perspective as women (and I will be 44 this month) I am having a field day with this. It will give us a very clear indication on just how far we have come yet or not. Obama is 47, hardly a big age difference. His experience is dismal as well. Now it is a first hand, front row seat to see the difference men and women are viewed by the press, the public eye and finally, ourselves.

Buckle up, this will be fun.
