So here it goes. I am the same age as SHE. I know probably a little less about politics but I will say that what Palin did is exactly the strategy I would have taken.
When you don't really know the topics inside out but you learn fast then you use that as your strength and are disarmingly honest about it. It served me well as a woman and Sarah made that point loud and clear. She is what she is, she stepped up to the plate and she made a pretty compelling argument about herself. The no nonsense smart Mommy from Alaska with her share of problems, a strong set of beliefs and a burning desire to make a difference. In addition she got the once in a lifetime opportunity to demonstrate that. Then she takes her sleeping baby and rubs the back of the little munchkin like only Mom's can rocking back and forth and scored big by that alone.
Remember there are a lot of Republican Mom's and die hard Hillary fans like me. The Obama-Biden campaign isn't paying much attention to us, unfortunately.
From the woman who wants it all perspective I must respectfully bow to Sarah Palin and the Republican campaign. She looked great and feminine, she flirted with America and was likable. I liked her. Job well done and women that have not had much to say in household politics in middle America will gladly go and vote for her as she gives them a voice. Very clever and McCain demonstrates a new strategy which is much different then the good-old-boys Texas stuff. And I am not a Republican.
On the other side I wished that Joe would not do that grandfatherly thing, that is a little OLD. But, he did not correct her or attack her personally and I liked that, too. He knows way more then she does and he comes across as well rounded, calm (which I hear he is not) and he understands the workings of politics. Do I believe he will have a better idea what can and cannot be done - you bet.
Biden does not appeal to Hillary fans. Only to those with a father complex (sorry) will want to lean on his shoulder. I see leather chairs and dark paneling and a fire place. Honestly, Obama does not appeal to me that much either, perhaps by my bias opinion and the fact alone that he is a mulatto, just like my daughter and with what I think an identity problem. He has a white mother and black father. How he identifies himself primarily as black and not overall as "brown" (like my daughter when she was little) or "multi-ethnic" is a mystery to me and it feels dishonest. I just don't trust him, period. Smug smile and all those great lines of all the things he want to change in four years – sure... Pick five that I know you can do and stop the change the world overnight thing, I don’t buy it, it’s so, so teenager like.
Who is the better choice? That depends entirely on the next two debates. We are all clear that we cannot take more of the same. America's International appeal and our economy has all but been thrust in the toilet by Bush. He did help me personally though (I might be the only one you can find), so I will be nice enough to say it was probably the best he knew how to do.
McCain or Obama? Obama most definitely runs a sexier campaign and acts like he is the winner already. Talk about manifesting your destiny.
We will all need to ponder over this some more and hope that in the next few weeks the issues will become clearer defined so we can make a choice that is best for this country that I happen to really like a lot. But they are not making it easy on me to figure out what the right thing is.

Inspire Me Today
What a fantastic morning I had. I just finished an interview with Gail Lynne Goodwin from www.inspiremetoday.com. It will be posted shortly and I'll twitter when it is out. Don't forget to follow me on http://twitter.com/egorhythm for updates.
Gail is an extraordinary luminary and told me the most wonderful story. It is about how she started her wonderful inspirational website. She was in Iraq visiting American troops and a young soldier asked her to give her a hug. When she hugged him he said he had not gotten a hug in nine months and that she smelled like home. That already gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. The realities of everyday war are a tough order for those who have to live through it.
The soldier told her further that his job was to sit in a ditch for thirty days at a time without speaking to anyone to secure a particular position. What got him through the endless and lonely days was his iPod. He downloads inspirational messages and podcasts and listens to them. Immediately after that experience, her defining moment she set up her website and grants all military personnel free access.
Our session that was all about 'not giving up'. To know that it may help an American in this war to get through a difficult day made me proud and very happy. That is a great birthday present for me. (I am turning 39 -again today). Kudos to Gail for such a special experience.
Gail and I went through the steps of K.A.R.L. and how to apply it when the going gets a little tough. We talk in the upcoming audio about what you can do on a day to day basis to map out to the road from here to there.
Until then.

Audio Interview Up
Last week the fantastic Honorée Corpron interviewed me. You can find the interview as an MP4 file on my website or simply click here: http://tinyurl.com/3zdfae
Honorée is an enthusiastic business owner based in Las Vegas and an experienced marketing expert. She is a speaker and author as well. Listen to the podcast to find out about her upcoming book about "The Successful Single Mom". In our interview we talk about overcoming some of the hurdles that stand in your way of believing that you deserve to have everything. As a woman who wants it all, Honorée asks me what a woman can do today and where she should begin. The interview covers how to apply K.A.R.L. and will shed some light on how I leaped from wanting it all to getting it all.

Pig? Lipstick?
I am mad. I am very upset about Mr. Obama, a male chauvinist who deems it necessary to bash a woman with a despicable low-blow. I am not a Republican but I am loosing my democratic tendencies if this is not going to stop.
Stay with the issues Mr. Obama. You already blew it for me when you had your thing with Hillary. You will not win any female voters unless you clean up your act. And a lipstick should not be one of them. While I thought Mrs. Palin’s speech was so-so that part was quite good.
Time to take a breath now. One of my talks is about women being catty and why we have to stop doing that. The reason is simple. We must stand up for each other. We are powerful, opinionated and may I say beautifully perfect women and unless we don’t say that this type of commenting is not tolerated we will continue to allow others to put us down.
In essence if you cannot say it to someone's face, don't say it. If you think you shouldn't say it, you are probably right. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Obama's people called and wanted to tell me about the truth of so-and-so. I told the poor guy that I was not interested in what others said or did as I can check that myself but rather want to hear what Mr. Obama has to say. Please do not call me until there is a message.
What does it mean for women who want it all? Be respectful even if you do not agree with the message. No low blows and no Schadenfreude when someone gets hurt. Be outraged if one of us who is paving the way for our daughters gets run over by too much ambition.

Women and Politics
Geez, what a mess. She is hot, successful and has a good looking husband whom she's been married to for 20 years. She has five kids and some interesting hobbies. She is clearly a woman who wants it all and it she is going for it 100%.
When you are against abortion does that mean you are against birth control, too? If Mom just had a baby 5 months ago (the exact time her daughter got pregnant) wouldn't you think someone had talked to the girls about sex and birth control?
Do I believe that a 17 year old should get married? Absolutely not. Is it the best they can come up with for damage control? Yes it probably is. We have to keep the conservatives happy.
Irrespective of what I believe in, my focus is on the woman. What a gutsy move and what a bold statement. I have to give it to McCain. Now the entire world will take her life apart and ask every crush she has ever had in high school. Her hair color, appearance and every speech she has ever made will be scrutinized. Every decision she has ever made, every piece of paper she signed, every vote she has given on any subject is under the microscope. On CNN the female reporter grilled McCain's campaign manager about the relevant experience if the 72 year old candidate McCain bites the bullet. Brilliant question that Brian (the man in my life) posed already last Friday. Would the world be ready for a 44 year old woman to run this country?
From our perspective as women (and I will be 44 this month) I am having a field day with this. It will give us a very clear indication on just how far we have come yet or not. Obama is 47, hardly a big age difference. His experience is dismal as well. Now it is a first hand, front row seat to see the difference men and women are viewed by the press, the public eye and finally, ourselves.
Buckle up, this will be fun.

HUB weekend
This last weekend I was invited by my former colleague Hugh after he read my blog to check out HUB. www.hubhub.org
It is a fairly new organization dedicated to personal empowerment and humanitarian assistance where it is needed. While they are new they have attracted a caliber of spiritual leaders that blew my mind away. The list reads like the who is who in motivational leadership. I was able to enjoy talks by Brendon Burchard, the unstoppable Cynthia Kersey and learned about The Passion Test from Chris Attwood. The person who impressed me most was the visionary behind all of it, Charlie Gay. I can't even imagine who can think up such a concept and attract that many powerful do'ers. Needless to say that I joined the group. For $99 a month I can participate and feed 3 people. A word of caution for those who are weary of what is out there. HUB is a networking idea. If someone joins they'll join underneath you. Then you get a commission. What I like is that HUB is for profit. My father taught me the more money you make and the more successful you are the more impact you make. The network pyramid thing is definitely not for everyone. My approach is pragmatic as always. There is more good about it then negative. The people attending seemed to be taking a lot away for their personal journeys. I took away enough to feel they deserve my input. On top of it all it can never hurt to be so close to powerful leadership.
